Scary overshoot!

Pasture at the end of our street... In the distance you can see Schiphol (Amsterdam airport) with the Zwanenburgbaan and the Polderbaan….(runways of Schiphol)

This morning at 08.00 AM I was feeding Timmie in the back yard when I a hard a big bang …... I looked at the plane what was landing at the Polderbaan and just passed our house and saw that it was making a go around, it made a lot of noise and broke off its landing approach and took of again very very fast almost like a rocket it went upwards in the sky! It went really almost straight upright and made such a noise! That did not look good... that was really an overshoot! What could have been wrong? If they are above our house it’s only a couple of hundred meters to the runway and if they do something like this with such a noise there really is something very wrong!

Mom was upstairs in the bathroom and heard the roof of our house creak, which is sometimes creaking when the wind blows very hard. She thought it was a wind spout.. but it really was the air pressure of the fast taking off plane .... scary man!

Mom and I watched the news on TV, the news on the internet and the TV text the entire day but no news concerning that plane... Strange is that, you never hear about those things….. How on earth is it possible you’ll never hear those things … there was nevertheless really something very wrong here……

Go to bed … bye … see you tomorrow!

At last I feel well again!

Helping Dad painting……...

This morning when I woke up I still had a headache. My nose ached and my forehead too, I did not feel well at all. I wanted to go to school so gladly because today we would do some linoleum carving... but no.... that was not possible.

This afternoon at last the headache was gone and I felt a lot better.
Tonight after dinner Dad started to paint the walls and the ceiling in the little room upstairs. I did help him and did all the small pieces and corners, which was really so cool to do man!

Now I go to bed... bye... see you tomorrow!

Habbo on the couch!

Playing Habbo on Mom's laptop....

I was a lot on Habbo today, yeh…. what else can you do if you are sick at home and no desire to do something else. I feel a little better today; however, sometimes my belly hurts a bit…... I think when there is I little change I feel better tomorrow I go to school. In the afternoon at school we will do some linoleum carving, I absolutely don’t want to miss that!

Go to play with Timmie for awhile…..bye …see you tomorrow!

Achoo!

This morning when I woke up I had a bad cold. My nose was entirely dense and I couldn’t inhale any fresh air!

I felt just like the man on the drawing... achooo.....achooo... and again achooo....

The headache just won’t disappear. I’m so sick and tired of that… This was another day sick on the couch……......

Go to bed ... bye ..see you tomorrow!

Ill on the couch!

Yesterday evening I already had a headache and I had to sneeze all the time. In fact almost the complete night I was awake…didn’t sleep at all…... bbbrrr..... I felt so bad……This morning I had a terrible throat pain and a fever.

So I stayed home from school and spend the complete day on the couch with a very thick blanket and still I was cold…. Now I feel something better but still I have a headache.

I go to bed now.... bye …see you tomorrow!

Spring at last!

Here on this spot was a Christmas tree and an old shrub.....

This afternoon the weather was very mild, not at all cold. I have done a lot of garden work today. I dug out an old Christmas tree and another dead shrub in the back yard. Now something else must to fill up the empty spot... it’s very empty over there.

In a few days we will obtain some ground to put the summer bulbs in the ground. I think that’s so cool man those flowers in the summer!

It’s so great again to be able to work in the garden….... Still a little while and than Timmie can run again in the grass. Now it’s still too wet to let him play in the grass…. too bad….....

I go upstairs it’s late already… yes with that new summer time you don’t realize its one hour later ….. It’s light outside and it feels one hour earlier so stupid is that…
Bye … see you tomorrow!

Intertoys open!

Cool shop!

This afternoon we have been to the opening of the new Intertoys shop here in our village. There would be great party outside the shop and all kind of things to do. That didn’t turn out that way. They only had inflated figures (pipes) that they often use at soccer games. That was in fact rather dangerous because sometimes those pipes flew across the road and hit the cars who were passing by. Further on there wasn’t much worth mentioning. You could get there, however, very nice popcorn... mmmmm..... deliciously. The shop itself has become very very beautiful and you can buy there lots of DVD's, play station - and other games fantastic!

The rest of the day was rather boring..... I cleared the barn with Dad and didn’t do very much else….

Go to bed... bye … see you tomorrow!

Nice food!

Salmon in the pan......

This morning at school we had the history test, it was pretty difficult. There was almost nothing of what we had learned in the test. The teacher even said that nobody today would obtain for a 10 (A) because there was one question of which the answer was not in our history book…. That wasn’t fair at all! Why do we get that?

This afternoon at school we could all do what ever we wanted and so I started to make a poster for Easter. From a book the teacher has, I searched for a cock and when I found one I copied it. I added some eggs and later on I will add a chicken. I took the poster home with me this afternoon to work on it at home.

Tonight when Dad and I came home after the trumpet lessons Mom had dinner ready. Do you know what she made … my favorite food. Fried salmon, pasta with cheese and spinach... that is really nice! On the photo above you can see the salmon still in the pan....

Must stop now have to go to my groups trumpet lessons… bye.. see you tomorrow!

Studying, studying and more studying!

............Mark and me crying, too much homework...

This afternoon we had our creative-afternoon and we made filled eggs. The eggs were boiled firstly and then we had to peel them. After that we cut the eggs in half and took the yolk out. I added ketchup to the yolks, I only did a bit too much, that didn’t matter much though I like ketchup! At last some mayonnaise and herbs and salt finished it all. They had become beautiful! After school I took them home so we could eat then at dinner this evening.

After school Mark and I went to my place to do our homework together. We had 2 things for tomorrow, history and dictation. That is really too much man! We spend the complete afternoon studying. First history, we both had one mistake. Again dates with many of those old guys.

1584 Willem van Oranje assassinated
1612 Leeghwater drained the Beemster
1642 Rembrandt van Rijn made the Night Watch

And a lot more....

The Night Watch

Afterwards we had to learn the words for the dictation, however, 50 words... too much man.. That was a lot of work to get it all into our heads. Dear teacher when you read this, we were not at all happy with you this afternoon. It was not nice at all we could not play outside while the weather was so great this afternoon. We thank you for that!

Tonight at dinner Mom and I have eaten the filled eggs I made at school, they were very nice! I think I’m going to make them at home sometime, it’s not at all difficult to do!

Go upstairs... bye ... see you tomorrow!

Open school night!

Mark's playing his guitar....

Tonight we had to be at school at half passed six. In our classroom the TV was on and everyone could see the video which the teacher made yesterday of our talent show.

At seven o’clock I had to distribute the tickets with the program on it for the video in our classroom at the door. The video was very nice...

Distributing the tickets at the door..

In the large hall of the school some of the kids from my class did there thing again live at stage. It was a real theater with real theater curtains. Later on this evening Mark did his part of the talent show again in our classroom, he played his guitar..

Only when the teacher said that is was our turn to do our puppet show the teacher from grade 8 and his kids were doing there show and there was no more time for us to do our puppet show... That wasn’t honest at all!

Here they are all our puppets, laying there without even being used….

Before we knew it the evening was over and we all had to go home….. It was a nice evening…....

It's late already ... go upstairs ... bye ... see you tomorrow!

Talent show!

Lights off spotlights on!

This morning I went to school with a very heavy bag. I had to take along everything which I needed to do my thing in the talent show today. My trumpet, music stand, music book and the poster which I had made to hang behind me.
In the morning everyone had to tell bit concerning what he would be doing in the afternoon. It was very nice to watch everyone. But the afternoon was nevertheless the nicest part, everyone did something else. There were kids that did an illusionist’s trick and someone else did a science test with a bottle and some hot water.... cool man!

I did my 2 music parts on the trumpet, to bad I had 2 false notes in my parts, but yes.... it was nevertheless quite fun!

The teacher has taken everything on a video tape. Tomorrow evening when we have the open school night she will show that video to all the parents and other people who come and visit our school. Also some of us will show what they did today, live on stage tomorrow night. Hope that the film becomes just as nice as this day was....

Go to bed now... bye … see you tomorrow!

No school today!

A Habbo- day....

This morning I slept late.. The school was closed today; the teachers had to study. When I got out of bed I nicely crawled behind Mom's laptop and went to the Habbo site to chat. You could see very well that it was in fact an ordinary school day because there only were kids on the site who asked me if I was ill as well... Yeh… . something else isn’t possible on an ordinary school day, you can’t be home then….

This afternoon we have been to Amsterdam to buy me a new music stand, the old one went entirely too pieces ... Everytime I wanted to set it up it felt to the floor again, it won’t keep standing up. So if I wanted to see the music on my paper I had to be on my knees and that isn’t nice to play that way…

We found a very nice one in the music shop in Amsterdam, its very shiny and silver this time. I hope that this one stays longer as that old one...

I go upstairs now … have a very busy day at school tomorrow. We have a talent day tomorrow. Everyone must show something nice, show your talent! I will tell something about my trumpet and after that I will play a little.... exciting! But very nice!

Bye… see you tomorrow!

Performance of Prince Willem Alexander!

The whole band on stage, ready to play!

This afternoon at 1.30PM I had to be at the municipal house in our village to get everything ready for the performance this afternoon. At first I had to put on a t-shirt with the name of the band on it and then we had to select the music papers in our book in order of appearance. After that we had to the go to the dressing rooms and wait till it was our turn to go and play our music.

The little girls came first on the stage to do there ballet implementation and after that it was our turn to go to the stage. Firstly we had play a couple numbers just the six of us and later the adults came and we all played together a couple of songs. It was terribly exciting but it all went great, we all played so good! It sounded so cool in that hall man! Really too crazy! We were a complete real orchestra all together.. It was great!
We played 7 numbers and also played the tortoise race... that’s always very nice to play because thereby we must stamp on the floor every few seconds.

Select the music...............................All of us together playing

Watching the rest of the show.......The grand final of the show

After the show we all got a small flag that shows we all participated in the show. That was already my second small flag in one week time! Last Saturday I won one at the school bowling! In the break there was also a lottery.... and I won 2 prices! A kitchen machine for Mom and 2 suns made of plaster (gyps) which we will put on the wall in the garden near the shed were Timmie’s hutch is... that will be very nice and will cheer it up overthere..

It really was a great day... also Mom and Dad like the whole show very much … they were very proud of me they said ...

I have to stop writing because we have to have dinnner now….. bye … see you tomorrow!

New car!

Ruud with his new car!

This morning I wasn’t feeling very well, very tired and a headache, so I didn’t go to my bowling training this morning. I stayed in bed and slept a little so in the afternoon I felt rather well.

This afternoon we all went shopping, I had to have a new pair of trousers. Fortunately we rapidly succeeded in finding them. I got two pairs and they are very cool! Buying new trousers is always a big problem. They are always too big and to short, my legs are to long and I’m too thin ….

After buying the trousers we went to Granddad and Grandma because Ruud and Roy were there to show his new car…... Waaauuuww.. What a car... so cool man, really great! We examined the car in and outside, it is a PT Cruiser from Chrysler... man what a car! Big, beautiful and a real American, so complete everything to it!

Tonight we had our monthly neighbor club dinner party and it was Marijke’s turn to cook. We started with and lovely chicken soup... I always love soup and afterwards we had meat and potatoes and red cabbage. It was very nice, only the red cabbage I wasn’t crazy about that, but the rest I loved.

After dinner we (Mom, Marijke and me) we did a little game yahtzee and of course I won!
Now I must really go to bed….tomorrow I have my performance with the band in the municipal house here in our village …. exciting! Bye … see you tomorrow!

Harry is finished!

Harry the badguy...

This afternoon I had to take Harry along to school to finish him... I wasn’t happy about that at all. He was fine as he was, without eyes and a mouth and hair…I liked him the way he looked now, a bit spooky. But the teacher said we had to paint him; also Mark was not at all happy that he had to paint his doll. So I did as little as possible at school this afternoon, I only painted the inside of his mouth red and of gave him some blue eyes. I tried to give him some hair but that didn’t turn out very well.

When I got home Mom helped me to give Harry a nice wig. He has got a very wild bunch now, very prickly.

Must stop now have to go to my trumpet lessons.. we all have to practise for next Sunday then have we a performance here in the municipal house... exciting!
Bye… see you tomorrow!

Today Michiel's birthday!

Today March 16th Michiel's birthday!
Happy birthday Michiel!

This morning at school I had my Topo test of south Europe. It wasn’t difficult at all! I knew all cities from Bologna to Turin in Italy and then to Seville and Malaga in Spain to Porto in Portugal... I got an A, well done eh? I’ll hope that the next Topo is as easy as this one, that I don’t think so.

This afternoon Mom and I went with Grandma and Grandpa to Vijfhuizen (village a few miles from here were my cousin Michiel lives) for Michiel's birthday today. Dad came later on and we all had dinner at Ruud and Femke’s house.

It’s already late, I really must go to bed now; I have 2 tests tomorrow at school …..bye … see you tomorrow!

Still very cold!

It’s 06:00 PM and now already almost 0 degrees with much North East wind! Cold!!!!!!

Today was an ordinary day at school. We did Dutch language lessons and arithmetic and worked on our essay. My essay about Amsterdam is entirely finished in the draft, that so great, but now I must type everything out on the computer and add pictures too it.

This afternoon I went shopping with Mom. I carried all the heavy shopping-bags and I did all the other small jobs as handing in all the empty bottles in the empty bottle machine. At Dirk van de Broek (a big supermarket in our village) we saw a beautiful big thermometer.

Thermometer attached to the shed........Timmie all wraped up
..............................................................against the cold!

We bought the thermometer and Dad attached it to the shed’s wall. So now we are able to see what the temperature is outside. It’s much too cold, next week it’s already spring.... Timmie’s water bottle is entirely frozen almost every day. This is so sad eh?

Go play with Timmie now… bye … see you tomorrow!

Bling- Bling again!

Bling- Bling things we made...

This morning I put on my black and white clothes for the dancing day the “"Dancing in school" project at school to day.
People of a dancing company came to our school this morning to teach us in dancing and together we practiced a special dance. Afterwards we had to go to the 8th grade classroom to let our make up done. That’s what I really hate that awful stuff on your face, baaahhhh! But it had to be so unfortunately.... When that was ready we all had to make glitter things to wear at the dance. A belt, glitter belts for your legs and a collar.

This afternoon we practiced the dance again and later on there was the show in our school gym. I didn’t like it at all that dancing stuff... Gladly we are having normal lessons tomorrow.....

See you!

Snowdrops!

Snowdrops next to the fence in our front yard!

Today at school we went on with the project we started last week "Lights off spotlights on". I have chosen the subject “the trumpet” and I have to do a small lecture about it for 2 minutes or so. Firstly I have to tell something about the trumpet and then I will play it.

Tomorrow we have a dancing day at school and we don’t have to do the ordinary work but we will be in the school gym all day and do all sorts of things there, what that will be the teacher will tell us tomorrow. I also must be dressed in black and white clothes. Mom and I searched for those cloths this afternoon at home. Black trousers was no problem , I have that, but I don’t have a white shirt. Mom just disappeared for a while and came back with one of Dad’s shirts. She turned up the sleeves and then she made a knot in the shirt because it was much too big. Over that white shirt I will wear a small waistcoat…. It’s all so exciting, what will happen tomorrow at school?

Tonight when we returned home from the bowling I suddenly saw some snowdrops in the front garden next to the fence …that’s so beautiful man! Watch the photograph above, cool eh?

I go and play with Timmie now and afterwards I’ll give him again a lot of new straw and hay against the cold tonight, it will freeze hard tonight.. .. This morning the water in Timmies drinking bottle was completely frozen, how sad… eh?

Bye … see you tomorrow!

Zandvoort!

The Beach....

This afternoon we have been to Zandvoort... I was so cold there…... especially when we went to the beach. But I was the only one, Dad did not have it cold and Mom thought it was deliciously there. The sun was there and there was no wind…. But nevertheless I had it very cold.....my toes were entirely frozen... When we came from the beach we went to the centre of Zandvoort, all shops in Zandvoort are always open on Sundays. It was very busy there and all terraces were entirely full of people.

Sea Mew in the waves...................Fish stand on the beach

The beach.....................Me ... skating on the beach .... its so cold!

Will look after Timmie now and give him a lot of straw and hay, they said it will be very cold this night; it will freeze about 10 degrees (13F)! Poor Timmie, that’s cold eh?

Bye ... see you tomorrow!

8th grade became 5th!

The bowling in Schiedam...

Firstly this morning I went to my bowling training at the club. Afterwards we went to Schiedam were the half finals of the school bowling tournament was held.
At 0.45PM it was the time to play our game (my team and the girls team of the 8th grade and the boys of 8th grade) It was quite strange to play on an other bowling alley then my own club. There was so much oil on the alley ... My ball was entirely greasy and slippery after a couple of minutes playing…... All of us had a lot of problems to get all the pins down… every time one pin continued to stand and it seemed as if it was permanently stuck at the floor as if is was glued to the floor....
No, we didn’t get enough points to continue and go on to the finals. However, the boys from my school of 8th grade they became 5th of all the teams all over the Netherlands... well done eh? My team reached the 31st place. That’s not too bad if you realize that there were 450 teams participated in this tournament.

We all got a small flag .......This was the big bowling cup for the winners

Patrick and me watching our small flag we got......

It was a very nice day... and after bowling we went to eat at Mr. Wong (Chinese in our village) and it was fantastic as always!

Now I go to bed ... bye ... see you tomorrow!

Ready for tomorrow!

Bossche bol.....

Tonight after my trumpet lessons I went with Dad to Albert Heyn (supermarket) to obtaining something nice to eat.... They did not have much pastry tonight but they happily had the Bossche bol which I always love. So we took them ….... Those pastry balls were so big tonight that I immediately took a knife and fork to eat it with instead of a normal pastry fork we normally use to eat it with, otherwise it would become a real wrestling to eat it… It really was very nice! Oooohhhh... I almost wished there as an other one…....

Tomorrow there is the big day, the school-bowling tournament in Schiedam! Tomorrow we must play the half finals against children from all over the Netherlands.. exciting, but quite nice. Perhaps Mark goes along with us to watch the games.... its not yet entirely clear. It’s only possible when his soccer game is canceled because of the rain which has fallen the last days...

Now I go to bed because I must rise early tomorrow ….I will firstly go to my bowling club to for my normal Saturday morning training …... bye … see you tomorrow!

I got an 8-!

Scary bus 4

This afternoon at last I had my book discussion. Together with Mark we drew everything on the black board of the Scary bus 4 which was necessary to explain which book it al was about and hung myself made poster also on the black board, it all was rather exciting… Would I remember everything I had to tell, wouldn’t I forget something and would it all turn out good? It went very good; I got an 8- (B+++) pretty good eh? So that is over then, now I have to prepare my lecture about America which I will have in May….

Go to bed now…. bye….see you tomorrow!

Studying, studying!

Practicing the book discussion for tomorrow.....

This afternoon I have studied hard …... preparing my book discussion for tomorrow. Just now I did the entire book discussion for Mom and Dad, it went pretty good. At first I told something about the books of Paul van Loon, which ones he wrote. Then something concerning the writer himself and after that I told what the scary book is about. I also read a few pages and explained why I chose the book Scary bus 4. After that everyone can ask questions. So I did my best and Mom and Dad had a lot of questions in the end...

It looked exactly like a real book discussion in our house tonight!

I go and play with Timmie for a while… bye… see you tomorrow!

SP and PVDA won the elections!

Jan Marijnissen (SP) and Wouter Bos (PVDA), winners of the municipality Council elections!

This morning when I got out of bed and saw Mom I asked her immediately who had won the elections ….. Mom said that the PVDA and the SP won the elections as she already expected. I asked her why she expected that.... That is because it appears that the people in the Netherlands are dissatisfied for awhile about the right government whom we have for a long time now. So the people will choose for left parties (the socialist parties) then..... because they want something else and hopes that that improves everything .... I find it very difficult.. politics....

See you later!

Municipal elections!

Vote machine....

Today there were the municipal elections.

Everywhere on the street you saw election posters in our village. They had attached election bill-boards on every street lantern in our village, strange sight…....

After school I have been playing at the school yard. It was quite busy there, lots of people came to vote in the school just opposite my school….

Yeeeaaah .. which party would win? This time I haven’t been to the school with Mom when she went to vote, she went to vote immediately after work, to bad I always like to come with her and I’m always allowed to press the buttons of the vote machine for her….

I go and watch some TV now…. bye … see you tomorrow!
