Let's play darts!

The dartboard hangs in the attic!

This afternoon Dad and I went to the construction market to buy a large board for under the dartboard. Afterwards we have immediately attached the dartboard to the board in the attic. Oooh it’s so cool there, looks like a real dart room now! When we were finished we just played a couple of games, it went great. The darts which I have bought yesterday are quite good, they throw very nice.

Soon the closing ceremonies of the Olympic Games will start. I can only see a small part of it, it lasts I belief up till 11.00PM. That’s why I can’t see it all…. so bad.. I have to get up early tomorrow because Mom and Dad both have to work tomorrow and I will go to Grandma (because of the holidays) so I have to be at Grandma’s at about 7.30 tomorrow morning, that’s early isn’t it?

Bye … see you tomorrow!

At last I got my dartboard!

Isn’t it a beautiful dartboard?

This morning after the bowling I bought a dartboard, at last! I just wanted that for weeks now. Happily they still had it at the store in our village. It is splendid, so cool and very heavy! Only when I opened the box at home there were no darts added to the dartboard …. So I couldn’t play after all… That was so stupid, now I had a dartboard and still couldn't play. We just decided to go to Amsterdam to look for darts when Mark called. He said that he wanted to come along with us to Amsterdam because he also needed some new darts.

We have been busy the complete afternoon looking for darts….... At last in Amstelveen they had beautiful darts…... There they had very cool ones, Mark and I both bought a beautiful set! Here above you can see my new dartboard... cool eh?

Now I go to bed..... bye … see you tomorrow!

So that was exciting! Bob de Jong won the gold medal! That didn’t come up when I made the poll….... Has everyone voted? It was Chad Hedrik who came out first that was what I expected as well…... But it turned out different eh?

Must stop now because I have to go to my trumpet lessons … bye … see you tomorrow!

Bling-Bling party!

My Bling-Bling class....

I was entirely Bling-Bling when I went to school this morning…... Cap on, waistcoat on and the large necklace ... Even the teacher had very crazy glitter wig on! Thomas had complete glitter waistcoat and a very cool large silver hat. The girls were almost all Bling-Bling with glitter. The boys mostly weren’t dressed very much as Bling-Bling, some of them had a little. Mark had also made a cap with silver on it.
The entire morning we did little games throughout the entire school..

Here we all sit and wait till the party starts ....

Later on this morning there was a disco......

Bye.... see you later!

Strange homework!

Sewing a sweater.......

This afternoon we had our creative class at school, that was so cool man! Last week we made a head of papier maché. Today we had to sew a sweater with hands stitched to it. Teacher Hanneke taught us how we had to sew. At first you put the needle in the cloth and then you go backwards with the needle, forwards and then back again…. That was rather difficult, but nice to do, but it goes very slowly. When school over I wasn’t ready so the teachers said that I could take it home to finish it.

Tonight just before dinner I finished it.... The sweater is ready ... beautiful eh?

He has got a scary face eh? A real bad face….

Tonight Mom and I have been calling the puppet all sorts of names..…... After much laughing and giving him names that really weren’t very appropriate to mention here we call him Harry the bad guy ... Yes... that really is a good name for him!

I go to bed ... bye see ... you tomorrow!

A home for the chicken!

The chicken is going home!

This afternoon when Dad came home he told us that the chicken which is walking around for months at Dad’s work got a home today! This chicken came by a couple of months ago and comes by to obtain food every morning at Dad’s window at work. Dad had asked the veterinary / vermin inspection what he had to do with that chicken because there is a Poultry house obligation since last Monday for chickens. They say that the bird flu now will come fast to the Netherlands and for this reason all chickens must be inside.

The inspection people could not help Dad, because there is a transport prohibition, so they couldn’t take the chicken along. Yes... that is so crazy, what to do with that chicken….. That chicken belongs nowhere and the inspection people cannot take him along... what can you do with that chicken?

Than there was that man at Dad’s work who said that he wanted to take the chicken home with him, however, he had to make a poultry house for him…. That poultry house was ready today and so the man immediately took the chicken home with him.
Dad said it was quit a job catching that animal! But they nevertheless succeeded and caught him and he will have a beautiful life at that man’s home.... So it turned out pretty well for the chicken, happily….

Tonight I watched skating … it was very exciting again…Ireen Wust won a bronze medal… cool eh?

Go upstairs ... bye ... see you tomorrow!

Yes ... I've got it!

My outfit for next Friday!

Today at school we had 3 tests! One was the history test, which I learned this weekend, the one with the old guys. The second one was the geography test, which we had to learn at school in the free time. The third test was French, that one came completely unexpected! The other group 7, with whom we always have our French lessons were told in advance so they were able to study hard before the test! I think that’s so unfair and I’m so mad about that! So they will all get a good mark for test! I didn’t make it very well, a lot of the questions I didn’t know, so I won’t get a good mark for that, but that isn’t very crazy is it? We said to teacher Henk that we thought it was so unfair but he didn’t say anything….... I think it so unfair!

This afternoon when I came home from school Mom had a wonderful idea for next Friday’s Bling, bling party. Dad's security waistcoat, there are all silver (Bling, bling) lines on, cool eh? I will complete that with my Bling, bling baseball cap and a Bling, bling golden necklace (see the photo above) cool eh?

Go upstairs now and read a little in my scary bus book .... bye.... see you tomorrow!

Bling, bling after all?

The Bling Bling cap for the party!

This afternoon I talked to Mom concerning the Bling Bling party what we are having next Friday at school where everyone has to come in glitter clothes. I really would not know what I must wear…. Then Mom comes up with an idea, cover a baseball cap with aluminum foil. But that did not turn out very well. Before you even half covered the cap that foil was already torn… Then we covered the aluminum foil with sticky plastic and it looks rather nice. The picture above shows the result, looks cool eh?
Now I must think about something else … what more can you make that looks a little bit like Bling, bling…..? The only thing that worries me is that the festival is in a couple of days… not very long to go ….(Maybe Mom comes up with an other great idea….hope so…!)

I go to bed... bye … see you tomorrow!

History from 1566 till 1646!

V.O.C. schip The Batavia

This afternoon I was very busy by learning my history test for next Tuesday. Tuesday we’ll have a history test over the period from 1566 to 1648. So many years I have to learn …so difficulty!
Here just a few of them I have to learn....

1568 till 1648 the 80 years of war
1594 First travel around Africa
1602 The set up of the V.O.C.
1619 Johan van Oldenbarnevelt decapitated
1648 Peace of Munster

Furthermore I must learn some old fellows by name and what they ever did. That turned out to be very difficult. So hard to remember! Mam helped me by that, so she gave every old guy an extra sentence to remember him by. She read the sentence and I had to complete it with her extra sentence and then it was easy to find the answer which guy it was.
Here under a couple of examples:

Willem Barentsz - He tried to reach India by ship by sailing the Northern Ice sea.....
(Mom’s sentence =) by sailing the Barentsz sea ...... tata…. tata…by sailing the Barentsz sea ….yes... yes..

Piet Hein - He conquered as a captain in service of the V.O.C. a Spanish ship full of gold, silver and precious stones.....
(Mom’s sentence =) Piet Hein, Piet Hein, Piet Hein his name is small, his actions were big ... he conquered the (silver) plate fleet! (= a very old Dutch children's song)

Johan van Oldenbarnevelt - He ensured that the V.O.C was set up
(Mom’s sentence =) they have... ggggrrrr.... (= decapitated him)

Jan Pietersz. Coen
- He was the first Dutch governor in Indië
(Mom’s sentence =) He is the one (sssttt....say it softly ... ) F. Idi ... you’ll keep forgetting all the time!

C. de Houtman
(Dutch for woodman) – He was the first Dutchman who sailed around Africa all the way to Indië (the Netherlands Indies)
(Mom’s sentence =) in a wooden ship…. Yes… in a wooden ship .......yes.... in a wooden ship!

We, however, could not stop laughing... we had such great time when we studied this afternoon. Mom’s extra sentences really worked so I could not forget these old guys. It really was nice to learn this way! Ppppfffhhhhh... I think I know it all very well by now.

Tonight I watched skating again the 1000 meters women. Woooouuuw... what was that exciting… Marianne Timmer won the gold medal! Great eh?

I go upstairs and watch the distribution of the medals, Erben Wennemars who won the bronze medal yesterday gets it now... bye see you tomorrow!

The Praxis tour!

Delicious Mc Donalds french fries at Praxis (construction market) in Amsterdam South East!

This afternoon we have been looking for bathroom tiles. Dad needs still a couple of tiles to finish our new bathroom, he just misses a couple.

At first we went to the Praxis (construction market) in the south east part of Amsterdam but they didn’t have the right tiles. However, in that Praxis there is a complete Mc Donalds restaurant and of course I was hunger when we passed those delicious french fries. The fries were great as always!

Praxis Amsterdam Sloterdijk....

Afterwards we went to the Praxis at Amsterdam Sloterdijk, but those tiles were sold out there as well…. too bad….

Tonight I watched skating on TV again …...... Erben Wennemars won the bronze medal, great eh?

Go upstairs... bye ....see you tomorrow!

Good reading!

Exciting book!

Tonight I read pretty much in my book the scary bus from Paul van Loon. On March 9th I have a book discussion and I must tell what the book is about. Also I must read a bit and tell something concerning the writer Paul van Loon. But now I have still a lot to read. When I have finished the book, I think I’ll make, just like the last time, a beautiful drawing of the book and its writer which I can stick on the black board when I have my book discussion.

It’s late already.... go to bed... bye …. see you tomorrow!

We’re going to Schiedam!

Bowling alley in Schiedam.

This afternoon the teacher told us that both the bowling teams of our school go to the finals day in Schiedam! That really is so cool man! That finals day is on Saturday March 11th. My team, The MPF's (Men, Patrick and Franka) reached the 8th place (of the 275 teams from all over Netherlands) and group 8 of our school is on 2nd the place, so that is really entirely too mad! Wooouuuwww.. so high on the score list! The teams which March 11th participate in the finals day come from all over the Netherlands, from Groningen and Venray. I’m really looking forward to that day it’s so exciting! We have to play on a strange bowling alley, that will be very odd but cool.

This afternoon there was again the Dutch skating team pursuit.... and what do you think happened ….Sven Kramer slipped and fall down and as a result Carl Verheijen as well..... ooohhhh... this was such a misery…. It went so great that race against the Italians …..and then this happens … to bad!

But they nevertheless became third and got a bronze medal... I think that’s still great!

After dinner Timmie came in the living room and we played for a while. He liked Mom’s computer very much, it looked as if he was seeking for something on the internet …. All kinds of weird things happened when he was on the computer… he pushed so many buttons at the same time….......

Go upstairs ... bye … see you tomorrow!

All the birds must be inside!

Bird flu now in Germany...

Today was on the news that all the birds and chickens in the Netherlands have to be in a poultry house now, because the bird flu is spreading now over Europe (is now in Turkey, Austria, Italy) and is also found by dead swans in Germany.

Poultry obligation they call it…. Aaach... how about that chicken at Dad’s work that comes by for food every day? That chicken doesn’t belong to anyone so doesn’t have a home or place to stay? He also has to be inside by next week what will happen with him? Ooohhh… so sad…, however I’m curious what will happen with that chicken...

The Dutch man’s skating team!

This afternoon and tonight I watched the Dutch skating team pursuit. The Dutch reached the half finals, that’s so cool man! It’s very exciting to see those teams competing against each other ……Tomorrow will be another exciting skating day!

Go upstairs and watch some TV …..bye … see you tomorrow!

Bak-(burn)ing Valentine cookies!

Valentine's heart.....

This morning we baked Valentine cookies at school. This here above is my heart.... It didn’t become very beautiful because when I was finish it broke into pieces and I had to stick it together again… such a pity… But that wasn’t yet everything... They have been a way to long in the oven and most of them became black just like mine. I don’t think it will taste very nice, I won’t even try it… It doesn’t matter we had a lot of fun making them!

Late in the afternoon the teacher had very nice lemonade for us in red cups with our own made straw with a heart on it.... Yes it is valentine today that is clear! Valentine... I don’t care about that very much.

Next week we have teachers day (a party day just like carnival) and everyone must come to school in Bling Bling clothing ... Everything must glow! No way, I don’t go to school in a glitter sweater! Anyway I don’t even have clothes like that! Bling Bling is nice for girls but not for boys! What does a boy have to wear? Is there someone out there who has any idea?

Go upstairs... bye … see you tomorrow!

Still watching skating!

Watching the skaters at the Bowling…....

This afternoon when I came home from school, I immediately switched on the TV. The 500 meters skating for men would start at 3.30 PM. At 15 minutes to five I had to go to the Bowling … such a shame ….to pity I couldn’t see more….

Then when we arrived at the Bowling I opened the door to the restaurant and what do you think I saw? They had a very large TV screen and the Olympics were on so I could watch the skaters after all. .. oohh … so cool man! Between throwing my bowling ball and the waiting time I watched the skaters on the screen…

After we got home again I immediately switched on the TV. Oooh … it’s so exciting!
Now I go upstairs and watch the skaters while lying on my bed… bye … see you tomorrow!

2 Medals for the Netherlands!

Neighbor’s dinner club.... deliciously food!

This afternoon I played at Mark’s place and when I got home we had our neighbor’s diner club. One’s a month we eat with our neighbors and someone of the neighbors club must cook. Tonight it was Mom’s turn to cook. She had made an Italian Olympic diner and very nice! Everything Italian! On the photograph you can see the first course, a cake of shrimps in a jacket of pasta with courgette.

While eating we watched the TV because there was the women’s skating going on. Ireen Wüst became Olympic champion and won the gold medal and Renate Groenewold became second and got silver!! Well done he?

I go to bed .... bye ...see you tomorrow!

Silver for Sven Kramer!

Sven Kramer gets his flowers just after the race!

This afternoon at last it was ice skating time on TV… In the beginning it was rather dull no spirit at all…..... It lasted long and they kept harping over the ice. At first the Dutch said that they sweep the ice too frequently so that would result in too much water on the ice when the Dutch had to ride their race…. Then after that they kept harping over that they found the ice too warm.....

Then at last there was the race of Sven Kramer against Carl Verheijen. Oohhh.. that was very exciting! After the race Sven Kramer was on the first place and Carl Verheijen on the Second place. But then the American Ched Hedrick came and Kramer was beaten by Kramer…. to bad…..... But Kramer had won nevertheless the silver medal, silver not bad eehh?

I go now and watch some more sports on TV … bye.. see you tomorrow!

Were in!

The party may start because the Dutch are in!

Tonight at last there was the grand opening ceremony of the Olympic Games in Torino! It was a complete show on TV..... So great what they all did. At one moment there even was a Ferrari built up on the podium and when it was finished it drove around in circles over the podium … that was so cool man!

The Ferrari ...so cool man!...........Het Lighting the flame!

The Stadium...................................theThe flame is burning!

Pavarotti was there at the end.........

It was a very great evening but now I go to bed ... bye ... see you tomorrow!

Tomorrow the Opening Ceremony!

The new Dutch ice skates!

Tonight was on the news that the Dutch developed a new type of ice skate that the Dutch skaters will use at the Olympic Games in Torino. The blades of that new ice skate are very very thin because of this the skater can go much faster and so they say the Dutch can win extra medals at the Games. Erben Wennemars (one of the better skaters) called the invention "a present from Heaven". I’m very curious about that, but we shall see if they are right…...

I can’t wait till Saturday when all the sports will start. Tomorrow is the grand opening. They say that the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games is always a very beautiful night. Tomorrow Jan Bos the Dutch skater will carry the Dutch flag into the stadium at the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games... exciting!

Also was on TV president Bush he said that a man called Mohammed was the big man behind the September 11 attacks in America. And that he had planned to fly another airplane in a building somewhere in Los Angeles which had been failed. Bush knew this already much longer but today he just admitted it…... Very strange that he comes up with that now all of a sudden.... Nevertheless a rather strange man that Bush!

Go upstairs ... bye … see you tomorrow!
